Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (played by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the group reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
